Freelancing is one of the online jobs that can be done remotely as a side hustle or as a primary source of income for anyone seeking to earn extra cash. Making money through freelancing is easy, as such, all levels of knowledge can earn relatively well with on freelancing platforms.
We will be looking at freelancers’ earnings and compare them based on expertise to identify trends and patterns. Some questions that will be addressed from this explorative data analysis include;
1.Can people with basic knowledge make money from freelancing?
2.Does paying for ads increase your chances of actually landing a job in freelancing sites?
3.What is the success rate of freelancers on different freelancing options?
4.What billing option is best?
The dataset used for this analysis, Freelancer Earnings and Job Trends by Shohinur Pervez Shohan was obtained from www.kaggle.com
Excel was used to transform the data since it had been cleaned with no blanks. Formatting with rules was applied, followed by sorting and filtering before presenting using pivot tables.
This study looked at freelancers’ earnings across five freelancing platforms namely; Fiverr, Freelancer, PeoplePerHour, Toptal, and Upwork.
Different variables on the overall success of freelancing like, the marketing spend in the various freelancing agencies under study per region, proficiency in the jobs applied for, success rate of the different freelancing options, and available payment options were considered.
From the data, the following conclusions were reached.
Like every other business model, freelancers can make good money irrespective of their proficiency level in their chosen field when the right efforts are put into ensuring that they are more visible than competitors through strategic marketing.
Freelancers from Australia had the most jobs completed as seen below while Europe had the least.
Upwork had the most freelancers placing it at the top choice if you want to venture into freelancing.
