September is recorded as the month with the highest rainfall in certain parts of Africa like Nigeria. And truly the rain has continued to or down, ceasing for short periods only to resume again. On some days, you hear the rhythmic beatings of the rain on the roof and no sign of ever abating. But with work and appointments to keep, you need to take proactive steps to ensure that the rainy season does not stop your productivity.

How then do I make the best the rainy season?

Standing out during the rainy season can be problematic especially as the rain can start without prior notice. It is this necessary to make the right choice for food to boost body immune, clothing, and other lifestyle products to help you stay positive and cheerful. Instead of dreading the outcome of the day, you could choose to be daring, and step out without fear.

To stand out this rainy season, you should do the following

1. Wear dark colored clothes

Choose clothes that come in dark shades or colors as they tend to easily hide elements of dirt, and can be cleaned with a piece of cloth when dirty without leaving obvious traces for others to see. However, those who love bold colors can do so as long as it is not a long gown.

2. Choose the right fabric.

This rainy season, it is only wise to wear certain fabrics and save the others for later. Avoid chiffon and silk during the rainy season as they tend to get wet faster and stick to your body. Plus they do a poor job of maintaining body temperature during the rainy season. Rather, it is wise to wear thicker fabrics that provide warmth. Better still, if you have synthetic jackets then this is the season to pull them out of the closet and wear them.

3. Carry an umbrella

The rains can pour down with little or no signal so your umbrella should always be handy and close by this season. Pick a sturdy umbrella when shopping for one as the rain is usually accompanied by wind. Even if you go around with your personal car, there should always be an umbrella handy.

4. Use a tote bag this season.

Carry a tote bag instead of a bigger bag. This limits the number of things you can carry out with you, further reducing the likelihood of the rain destroying your personal effects. A tote bag made with water-resistant material is preferable.

5. Buy shoes made with rubber.

Rubber shoes and slippers come in numerous stylish designs and shapes. So purchase one that resonates with your personal taste. It is important to note that the rain is not friendly to leather and suede. So, save your leather and suede shoes for the dry season. Carry an extra pair of rubber slippers, if your job demands that you wear leather shoes.

6. Ensure your car is in good condition before you leave the house.

Driving under the rain comes with certain challenges like the inability to see clearly while driving, car skidding, and a lot of others. These challenges can be avoided and precious man-hours saved by ensuring that the car is in good working condition before you step out of your home. Pay particular attention to the car air conditioning as it will help improve visibility when driving under the rain, replace broken wipers, indicators, and hazard lights. And ensure your tires are not worn out to be sure they can grip the road. These will save you a lot of trouble this season.

6. Eat right.

This may seem trivial but it is really important. The rainy season has it's attendant health implication as temperatures drop and cold sets in. To avoid coming down with flu, it is advisable to eat balanced diets and take fruits rich in vitamin C to boost the body's immune system. Take your food hot and if possible, drink lots of hot spicy soup (Pepper soup).

7. Rest properly.

In the rainy season, you may feel like you have not accomplished much due to the rain and you may end up pushing yourself even more. Work but it is also important that you take a good rest as the body needs it to repair worn-out cells. This means you need to sleep and rest properly so you can face the next day with a sound body and mind.

8. Sleep under a blanket at night

Make sure you buy a blanket for this season as it tends to be colder at night and if you're not properly covered, you might catch a cold. The blanket comes beneficial for those who sleep in rooms with air conditioners.
